Understanding the Reward of Helping a Pilgrim: A Forgotten Sunnah
Share
While many focus on performing Hajj or Umrah themselves, few realize the immense reward in assisting those making the sacred journey.
A Prophetic Tradition
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught that supporting a pilgrim carries great spiritual value:
"Whoever prepares a pilgrim for Hajj or takes care of their family in their absence, receives the same reward." (Bayhaqi)
Ways to Support Pilgrims
- Financially assist someone going for Hajj or Umrah
- Gift items such as Ihram, shoes, or duffel bags
- Help with family needs during their absence
- Make dua for their journey and return
Reviving a Noble Sunnah
This form of service not only benefits the pilgrim, but also elevates the one who gives. It reflects care, unity, and the spirit of brotherhood that defines Islam.
