Aqeeqah – A Blessed Beginning, A Gift Shared in the Haramain
The birth of a child is one of life’s greatest blessings. Aqeeqah is a beautiful Sunnah that allows you to express gratitude to Allah ﷻ while beginning your child’s journey with barakah, protection, and giving.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“Two sheep should be sacrificed for a boy and one for a girl.”
— [Tirmidhi]
By performing Aqeeqah, you honour a prophetic tradition and share your joy with those in need - especially the poor and struggling in the sacred cities of Makkah and Madinah.
When is Aqeeqah Performed?
The Sunnah is to carry out Aqeeqah on the 7th day after birth. If that isn’t possible, it may be done on the 14th, 21st, or any following 7-day interval. Delays should be avoided if possible.
As part of this ritual, £10 in Sadaqah is also given - symbolising the value of your baby’s hair in silver - an act of purification and mercy.
At Shareefain, we perform Aqeeqah throughout the year, and your sacrifice is carried out with care within 3 to 7 days of confirmation.
